European launch startup Isar Aerospace has solidified its market position just weeks after reaching orbit. According to Payload, launch integrator SEOPS has signed a multi-launch service agreement for five dedicated Spectrum missions scheduled between 2028 and 2030.

These flights will support the SEOPS Waymaker program, designed to secure rideshare availability as SpaceX signals a wind-down of its Transporter series. Missions are slated to depart from Isar’s primary site at Andøya Space Center in Norway and a secondary site currently under development in Nova Scotia, Canada, via Maritime Launch Services.

Scaling for Market Panic

SEOPS President Evan Hoyt indicated that the contract was finalized the day before Isar’s maiden orbital flight, reflecting high confidence in the Spectrum platform. The move is a direct response to a looming supply crunch; SpaceX has reportedly paused Transporter bookings starting in late 2028, pushing the smallsat industry into what Isar’s CCO Stella Guillen describes as "panic mode."

To meet this surge, Isar is entering an aggressive scale-up phase. The manifest includes a first commercial mission in 2026 and four flights in 2027. By 2028, Isar aims to double its cadence. Production will be centralized at a new facility near Munich capable of manufacturing up to 40 Spectrum vehicles annually.

Despite this expansion, the supply-demand gap remains vast. Guillen noted that meeting current market inquiries would require nearly 200 vehicles by 2028. For SEOPS, the Isar partnership provides critical resiliency within a diverse launch portfolio as the era of dominant US rideshare missions transitions toward a globalized, multi-provider landscape.
