# Pixxel Scales Hyperspectral Operations with $100M Series C

Indian-American hyperspectral pioneer Pixxel has finalized a $100 million Series C funding round, bringing its total capital to $195 million. The round was led by Temasek and Seraphim Space, with participation from new backers 360 ONE and IMM Investment, alongside existing venture partners.

According to Payload, the capital injection is earmarked for the industrialization of Pixxel’s satellite production, specifically focusing on the deployment of its next-generation Honeybee satellites. These upgraded platforms will feature expanded hyperspectral bands—including shortwave infrared—and integrate Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and ultra-high-resolution optical sensors.

Strategic Orbital Infrastructure

Pixxel currently has approximately 25 satellites in various stages of development. The firm’s roadmap includes:
Firefly Constellation: Completion of the initial block with 3-6 additional launches.
Honeybee Constellation: Deployment of 12 next-gen units starting in 2027.
* Aurora Software: AI enhancements to streamline hyperspectral data analysis for defense and civil clients.

Government Momentum

CEO Awais Ahmed noted that hyperspectral tech is currently where SAR was seven years ago—poised for exponential adoption. The company has already secured significant institutional traction, including contracts with NASA’s $476M Commercial SmallSat Data Acquisition program, the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and the Indian Air Force.

While primary operations remain centered in India and the U.S., Pixxel is actively evaluating new office locations in Europe and the Middle East to capture growing global demand for sovereign-sensing capabilities.
