Neuraspace, the Lisbon-based Space Traffic Management (STM) firm, has secured €15.6 million ($18 million) in new funding to bolster European Space Domain Awareness (SDA). According to SpaceNews, the capital influx consists of a €6 million Series B round led by Lince Capital, Explorer Investments, and Armilar Venture Partners, supplemented by €9.6 million from Portugal’s EU-backed Recovery and Resilience Plan.

OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES

The funding is prioritized for the development of NeuraspaceDEF, an AI-integrated dual-use platform designed for government and defense applications. The system aggregates data from public catalogs, commercial optical partners, and proprietary sensors to provide near-real-time orbital tracking and collision avoidance. The roadmap includes expanding sensor capabilities from purely optical systems to include radar arrays, ensuring all-weather data fidelity.

MARKET TRACTION

Neuraspace reported a 350% revenue increase over the previous fiscal year, a surge driven by the increasing congestion of Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The company currently monitors over 600 satellites for institutional and commercial clients, including Spire Global and the European Space Agency (ESA).

STRATEGIC SOVEREIGNTY

Beyond safety, the expansion addresses counterspace activities, including signal interference and cyber threats. By establishing indigenous sensing and analysis capabilities, Neuraspace aims to decouple European orbital security from reliance on U.S.-controlled systems. Recent milestones include a partnership with the Portuguese Air Force at Beja Air Base and selection for the NATO DIANA defense accelerator. CEO Chiara Manfletti noted that the mission has evolved: safety and security are now two sides of the same operational problem in a contested environment.
