Moog Commissions ISO Class 8 Clean Room to Scale Thruster Production
Moog Inc. has operationalized a new 80% capacity expansion at its Niagara Falls facility, specifically targeting accelerated thruster assembly for defense and commercial spaceflight.

Production Scaling Initiated
Moog Inc. has officially commissioned a new ISO Class 8 certified clean room at its Niagara Falls manufacturing hub. According to SpaceNews, the expansion increases the facility's dedicated clean room capacity by more than 80%, a strategic move designed to meet rising demand across the defense and commercial space sectors.
Operational Throughput
The new environment is configured for continuous, multi-shift operations. By integrating precision subassembly, system integration, and hot-fire testing within a single workflow, Moog aims to significantly reduce lead times for thrusters and propulsion systems. This operational streamlining is critical for high-priority initiatives, including missile defense, space-based interceptors, and the Golden Dome programs.
Vertical Integration
The Niagara Falls site already maintains four high-altitude hot-fire test chambers. The addition of the ISO Class 8 space reinforces Moog’s vertically integrated approach, allowing for a seamless transition from manufacturing to environmental testing. To support the increased hardware throughput, Moog has expanded its workforce, adding dozens of engineering and operations roles.
Strategic Trajectory
Mark Covelli, Senior VP of Moog’s Space Division, noted that the footprint transformation is a direct response to evolving national security priorities requiring higher-volume delivery of defense capabilities. The facility is currently optimized to support a diverse range of hardware, from lunar lander components to commercial satellite propulsion. This expansion secures Moog’s position in the supply chain for rapid-response orbital and trans-lunar missions.
