HYIMPULSE SR75 SECOND FLIGHT SLIPS TO Q2 2027
German launch provider HyImpulse has delayed the second flight of its SR75 suborbital rocket to spring 2027 following the acquisition of a UK launch operator licence for the SaxaVord Spaceport.

DATA FEED: LAUNCH OPS
German aerospace firm HyImpulse has adjusted the timeline for the second flight of its SR75 suborbital launch vehicle. The mission, to be conducted from SaxaVord Spaceport in Scotland, is now slated for spring 2027. According to European Spaceflight, this represents a shift from previous projections as recently as September, which estimated a late 2026 launch window.
On 1 October, the company confirmed it had successfully secured a launch operator licence from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). While the license marks a significant regulatory milestone, the subsequent scheduling adjustment highlights the logistical challenges of operating in the North Sea environment.
HyImpulse leadership indicated that the delay is not a result of technical hardware failures or vehicle unreadiness. Instead, the revised Q2 2027 target is driven by the remaining regulatory activities required under the CAA framework and the harsh seasonal weather conditions typical of the Shetland Isles during the autumn and winter months.
By targeting a spring window, the company aims to optimize launch probability and ensure compliance with the rigorous safety parameters established by the CAA. The SR75 remains a critical technology demonstrator for HyImpulse, testing the hybrid propulsion systems intended to eventually power their larger orbital launch platforms. With the operator license in hand, the company is now focused on the final phase of environmental and procedural requirements for the first SR75 liftoff from European soil.
