ESI MOTION SECURES CRITICAL HARDWARE ROLE IN U.S. MISSILE DEFENSE NETWORK
ESI Motion Inc. has been selected by Lockheed Martin to provide solar array drive electronics for the Space Development Agency’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture.

DATA FEED: ARCHITECTURE INTEGRATION
U.S.-based ESI Motion Inc. has formalised an agreement to supply critical Solar Array Drive Electronics (SADE) to Lockheed Martin. According to SpaceNews, the components are earmarked for integration into the Space Development Agency’s (SDA) Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA) programs.
HARDWARE SPECIFICATIONS
The delivery includes ESI’s flight-proven SuperNova and Pulsar motor controllers. These units are engineered for high-reliability motion control, ensuring that satellite solar arrays maintain optimal orientation to sustain the energy requirements of the PWSA’s orbital assets. The hardware carries full space-rated certification, drawing on ESI’s two-decade history in military and industrial motion systems.
MISSION OBJECTIVES
The PWSA represents a shift toward a distributed, low-Earth orbit (LEO) network. Its primary function is to provide the U.S. military with a resilient mesh of secure communication, persistent missile tracking, and advanced space-based support. By decentralising these capabilities across a large number of satellites, the SDA aims to reduce the strategic impact of individual node failures.
As Lockheed Martin continues its role as a prime contractor for these orbital layers, ESI Motion’s electronics will serve as a fundamental subsystem in maintaining the operational lifespan of the fleet. The contract reinforces the increasing reliance on specialised commercial vendors to fulfill high-stakes defense requirements in LEO.
