Swiss-based space technology provider SWISSto12 has finalized a $70 million Series C funding round as demand for sovereign hardware infrastructure intensifies. According to Payload, the private equity injection will be utilized to scale production for the company’s core satellite systems to meet a global backlog.
Since its 2011 inception, SWISSto12 has transitioned from a component manufacturer to a full-stack prime contractor. Its current orbital portfolio is anchored by two strategic products:
- HummingSat: A compact geostationary (GEO) satellite platform designed for lower-cost deployment with a maiden flight scheduled for 2025.
- HummingLink: Advanced multi-orbit communications payloads and user terminals supporting intersatellite links and direct-to-device connectivity.
In a departure from industry standard secrecy, SWISSto12 released verified financial telemetry to signal market stability. The firm projects $140 million in 2025 revenue and reports a total contract backlog exceeding $500 million. To date, the company claims flight heritage on over 2,000 payloads currently in operation. Seven HummingSat units are already under contract for high-profile operators including SES and Viasat.
CEO Emile de Rijk stated the capital will facilitate execution across any payload or orbit, specifically targeting missions ranging from media broadcasting to sovereign defense communications. While the specific investors in this Series C round remain undisclosed, the funding confirms a shift in the European sector toward high-cadence, small-form-factor GEO hardware.
