DATA TRANSMISSION PROTOCOL: ESTABLISHED

US-based aerospace firm AnySignal has formalized an agreement to provide end-to-end communications for Reflect Orbital’s first three missions. According to SpaceNews, the partnership covers the inaugural satellite launch and two subsequent orbital deployments, integrating hardware and software to bridge the gap between spacecraft and terrestrial ground stations.

HARDWARE SPECIFICATIONS

Reflect Orbital satellites will be equipped with the AnySignal USX transceiver, a multi-band software-defined radio (SDR). The module is designed to consolidate high-rate payload downlinks with Telemetry, Tracking, and Command (TT&C) functions. By centralizing these operations into a single unit, Reflect Orbital achieves a reduction in satellite bus mass and simplified cabling, eliminating the need for discrete radios across different frequency bands.

GROUND INFRASTRUCTURE

The mission will utilize AnyLink, a software interface designed to aggregate Ground-Station-as-a-Service (GSaaS) providers. AnyLink enables the operator to interface with multiple third-party ground networks through a unified architecture. Ben Nowack, CEO of Reflect Orbital, noted that the full-stack solution de-risks early flight operations, allowing the team to focus on their primary mission: redirecting sunlight to specific Earth coordinates via orbital mirrors.

MISSION CONTEXT

Reflect Orbital aims to deliver solar energy on demand, extending the operational window for terrestrial solar farms and providing lighting for emergency or industrial use. By outsourcing the electromagnetic spectrum management to AnySignal, the startup secures a streamlined downlink for its unconventional orbital infrastructure.
